Installation [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • For parts which are not reusable, always use new parts.
    • When installing the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly, make sure the steering wheel assembly is in the straight-ahead position.
    • When installing the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly, make sure it is aligned the same way it was when you removed it.
    HINT: Perform this procedure only when replacement of the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly is necessary.
    1. Connect the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly on the lower side by matching the matchmarks that were placed during the removal.
      NOTE:
      • Be sure to follow the tightening order and tightening torque of the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to avoid the steering effort from becoming heavy.
      • When tightening the mounting bolts of the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly, always tighten the gearbox side bolts first.
      • Make sure the steering wheel assembly is firmly secured to avoid damaging the harness.
    2. Use new flange bolts and tighten the ones on the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly side.

      Torque: 38 N*m (387 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Install the dust seal.
  2. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
    HINT: 
    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly is necessary.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
    HINT: 
    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly is necessary.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  4. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column assembly with the tilt lever fixed.

      Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Never loosen the tilt lever.

    2. Connect each connector.
  5. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • For parts which are not reusable, always use new parts.
    • When installing the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly, make sure the steering wheel assembly is in the straight-ahead position.
    • When installing the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly, make sure it is aligned the same way it was when you removed it.
    1. Connect the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly on the upper side by matching the matchmarks that were placed during the removal.
      NOTE:
      • Always connect the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly after installing the steering column to avoid damage to the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.
      • Be sure to observe the tightening torque of the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to avoid the steering effort from becoming heavy.
      • When installing the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly, make sure it is aligned the same way it was when you removed it.
    2. Use new flange bolts and tighten the ones on the steering column assembly side. Install a new bolt.

      Torque: 38 N*m (387 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf) 

      Clearance

      NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to adjacent parts 

      15 mm (0.591 in.) or more

  6. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    HINT: 
    When replacing with a new part, engage the claw first, and then pull out the securing pin of the clamp.
  7. INSPECT AND ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7
  8. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    HINT: 
    When installing the components, be careful not to peel off the surface of the upper steering column cover.
  9. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2021 - ]

  10. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2021 - ] 

  11. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
    HINT: 
    If you have replaced the NO. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly, check the position of the steering wheel assembly with respect to the straight-ahead position of the vehicle.

      *a Within 2° - -
      1. When the steering wheel assembly is in the following condition, perform the steering wheel assembly installation over again.
        • When the wheels are set in the straight-ahead position, the steering wheel assembly spokes are not horizontal.
        • Error is more than 2° on the periphery of the steering wheel assembly.
  12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2021 - ]

  13. UPDATE ECU SECURITY KEY 
    HINT: 
    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the steering angle sensor is necessary.

  14. INITIALIZATION AFTER RECONNECTING AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to WORK PROCEDURE [11/2021 - ]

    HINT: 

    When disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.

  15. VSC SENSOR NEUTRAL MEMORIZATION 

    Refer to UTILITY [11/2021 - ]

  16. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
