DTC P2122: Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "D" Circuit Low [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Using GTS, read the DTC of [Engine].

Powertrain > Engine Control System > Trouble Codes

Is DTC P2122 displayed? (Current code)

      Result Proceed to
      Yes A
No (Even if DTC is detected, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.) B

    Result:

    PERFORM SIMULATION TEST

    Result:

    See step  2

  2. CHECK FOR POOR CONTACT
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Check for poor contact of ECM and accelerator pedal (with sensor) rod assembly connector.

Is there poor contact of ECM or accelerator pedal (with sensor) rod assembly connector?

      Result Proceed to
Yes (Repair the poor contact of ECM or accelerator pedal (with sensor) rod assembly connector.) A
      No B

    Result:

    REPAIR CONNECTOR

    Result:

    See step  3

  3. CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL (WITH SENSOR) ROD ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR (OPEN)
    1. Disconnect the connector from ECM.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the accelerator pedal (with sensor) rod assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance of harness between ECM connector and accelerator pedal position sensor connector.

      Connector & terminal

      A5-51 (AVCC3) - A17-4

      A5-66 (ACCM) - A17-6

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

      Result Proceed to
      Yes A
No (Repair the open circuit of harness between ECM connector and accelerator pedal(with sensor) rod assembly connector.) B

    Result:

    REPAIR HARNESS

    Result:

    See step  4

  4. CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL (WITH SENSOR) ROD ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR (SHORT TO GROUND)
    1. Measure the resistance between the ECM connector and engine ground.

      Connector & terminal

      A5-51 (AVCC3) - Engine ground

      A5-66 (ACCM) - Engine ground

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

      Result Proceed to
      Yes A
No (Repair the short circuit to ground in harness between ECM connector and accelerator pedal (with sensor) rod assembly connector.) B

    Result:

    REPAIR HARNESS

    Result:

    See step  5

  5. CHECK ACCELERATOR PEDAL (WITH SENSOR) ROD ASSEMBLY POWER SUPPLY
    1. Connect the connector to ECM.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage between accelerator pedal (with sensor) rod assembly connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal

      A17-4 - Chassis ground

      Is the voltage 4.5 - 5.5 V?

      Result Proceed to
Yes (Replace the accelerator pedal (with sensor) rod assembly.) A
      No (Replace the ECM.) B

    Result:

REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL (WITH SENSOR) ROD ASSEMBLY

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    Result:

    REPLACE ECM

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]
