  3. PRE-CHECK
    1. Measure the battery voltage.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V (ignition switch off)

      HINT:

If the battery voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery and initialize* the integrated current value using the Techstream.

      • *: Use the Techstream to perform Integrated Current Value Initialization.
      • If the Data List item "Integrated Current" is 0 A-sec or higher, it is not necessary to perform initialization.

      HINT:

      • If the auxiliary battery voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery. Until charging current decreases to 5 A or less, if integrated current value still does not increase to threshold value*1 or higher, initialize integrated current value*2.
      • When the battery is replaced, even if stop and start control operates immediately after replacement, stop and start control prohibition may temporarily continue due to charging capacity learning that occurs within several trips.
    2. Check the fuses and relays.
    3. Check the connector connections and terminals to make sure that there are no abnormalities such as loose connections, deformation, etc.

  4. CHECK DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA*
    1. Check for DTCs.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Trouble Codes

    2. Check for freeze frame data.

      HINT:

Record or print DTCs and freeze frame data if necessary.

    3. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Clear DTCs

    4. Recheck for DTCs.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Trouble Codes

      HINT:

If any DTCs for the CAN communication system are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    Result:

GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2023 - ]

    Result:

    See step  5

  5. CHECK VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY AND VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY FREEZE FRAME DATA
    1. Check for Vehicle Control History and Vehicle Control History Freeze Frame Data.

Powertrain > Stop and Start > Utility

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)

      HINT:

Print Vehicle Control History and Vehicle Control History Freeze Frame Data if necessary.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      RoB are not output A
      RoB are output B
Malfunction cannot be duplicated and RoB are not output C

    Result:

GO TO VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY. Refer to  VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY (RoB) [10/2023 - ]

    Result:

USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

    Result:

    See step  6

  6. REFER TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
    1. Refer to Problem Symptoms Table.

Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2023 - ]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
Fault is not listed in problem symptoms table A
Fault is listed in problem symptoms table B

    Result:

    See step  8

    Result:

  9. CONFIRMATION TEST
    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Turn the air conditioning system off.
    3. Drive the vehicle for 5 to 40 minutes.
      WARNING:

When performing Confirmation Driving Pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

    4. Stop the vehicle and confirm that the engine is stopped by stop and start control when all of the following conditions are met:
      • Steering wheel centered
      • Shift lever in D
      • Brake pedal depressed
      • Stop and start indicator illuminated

      HINT:

If the engine is not stopped by stop and start control, air fuel ratio learning and idle speed learning are necessary. Allow the engine to idle for 3 minutes and check that the engine idle speed is within 50 rpm of the target idle speed.

    5. Move the shift lever to N and confirm that the engine starts.
