Operation Check [11/2021 - ]
- BASIC INSPECTION
HINT:
Before performing diagnosis, check the following items which might affect keyless access with push button start system problems.
- Check the battery.
Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]
- Check the fuse condition.
Make sure that ampere of the fuse is setting value, and it is not blown out.
- Check the connecting condition of harness and harness connector.
- Check the battery.
- CHECK OPERATION
HINT:
- Using the function setting (customizing), check that the keyless access system is not OFF.
Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2021 - ]
- The dark current is approx. 400 mA if there is communication between the vehicle and electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
- The dark current is approx. 40 mA if there is no communication between the vehicle and electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.*
- *: No communication with the vehicle means that the keyless access function has been in the cancel state or in the power saving state (the communication is stopped while the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly has been near the vehicle for 15 minutes or more after door locking).
- Keyless access door unlock function check
*1 Touch sensor (unlock) (back side of the handle) *a 40 - 80 cm - When carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly with all doors locked by keyless lock operation, check that when the touch sensor (unlock) built into the back side surface of door outer handle of front door is touched, the driver's door will unlock (when touched on the driver's side) or all doors will unlock (when touched on the passenger's side) and the answer-back function operates (hazard light blinks twice, external buzzer sounds twice).
- In the keyless access door unlock detection area, hold the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly at the same height as the outer handle (approx. 80 cm from the ground) and in the direction shown in the figure, and check that the vehicle becomes unlock mode [electrical key transmitter sub-assembly LED (red) blinks] at 40 to 80 cm from the vehicle.
HINT:
Check the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly battery if the LED (red) does not illuminates when the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly button is pressed.
Refer to INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]
- Keyless access door lock function check
*1 Touch sensor (lock) *a Approx. 30 cm - When carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly outside of the vehicle with all doors closed and unlocked, check that when the touch sensor (lock) on the surface of door outer handle of front door is touched, all doors will lock and the answer-back function operates (hazard light blinks once, external buzzer sounds once).NOTE:
If the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is within the vehicle but not within the detection area (in the instrument panel, on the rear tray, in the glove box, on the floor, or in the door trim pocket), then lockout protection will not function when the doors are locked and the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly will be locked into the vehicle.
- To check the keyless access door lock operation range, hold the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly at a height of 10 cm under the bottom edge of the door glass (approx. 80 cm from the ground), point it in the direction shown in the figure at a distance of approx. 30 cm from the vehicle, and check that all doors lock and the answer-back function operates (hazard light blinks once, external buzzer sounds once) when you touch the touch sensor (lock).
- Check the passenger's side door in the same manner.
HINT:
- When the door cannot lock if the touch sensor (lock) is touched, touch the touch sensor (lock) with palm.
- Since communication is not possible within close range (20 cm or less) of the door outer handle, the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not operate if you touch the touch sensor (lock) with the same hand you are holding the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
- If the lockout prevention buzzer sounds, it is possible that the interior transmitter has radio wave leakage.
- When carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly outside of the vehicle with all doors closed and unlocked, check that when the touch sensor (lock) on the surface of door outer handle of front door is touched, all doors will lock and the answer-back function operates (hazard light blinks once, external buzzer sounds once).
- Check of the keyless access trunk open function
*1 Luggage door opening switch assembly *a 40 - 80 cm - With the trunk closed, check that the trunk opens and the answer-back function operates (hazard light blinks twice, external buzzer sounds twice) when you press the luggage door opening switch assembly while carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
- To check the keyless access trunk open operation range, hold the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly behind and in the center of the vehicle at the same height as the luggage door opening switch assembly (90 cm from the ground), point it in the direction shown in the figure at a distance of 40 to 80 cm from the vehicle, and check that the trunk opens and the answer-back function operates (hazard light blinks twice, external buzzer sounds twice) when the luggage door opening switch assembly is pressed.
- Keyless access ignition switching function check
- With the ignition OFF, enter the vehicle while carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly. With the shift lever in the "P" range, check that the engine starts when you press the engine switch while depressing the brake pedal (AT model) or clutch pedal (MT model).
- While carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly, check that the status changes as follows each time you press the engine switch without depressing the brake pedal (AT model) or clutch pedal (MT model): "Ignition OFF" → "ACC ON" → "Ignition ON" → "Ignition OFF". However, if the shift lever is a range other than the "P" range and the engine switch is pressed from ignition ON, then the status does not change to ignition OFF and instead will change to ACC ON. (AT model)
- After the vehicle has stopped, press the engine switch and ignition is turned OFF (engine stopped, all power supplies OFF).
However, if the shift lever is in any range except for the "P" range and the engine switch is pressed with the vehicle stopped, then the ignition is not turned OFF and instead the power supplies changes to ACC ON. (AT model)
Check that the steering lock operates if the door is opened in the ignition OFF state. (For AT model, the shift must be in the "P" range.)
- To check the range of the keyless access ignition operation, check that the engine can start when you set the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly at the check position on the seat in the direction indicated in the figure.WARNING:
The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly may not be correctly detected even though it is within the detection area within the passenger room, if it is on the instrument panel, on the rear tray, in the glove box, on the floor, or in the door trim pocket.
NOTE:Perform the check multiple times, once each with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly positioned on the driver's seat, on the passenger's seat, and on the rear seat in 2 locations.
- Lockout protection function check with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly in the trunkWARNING:
Open one of the windows before performing this check in order to prevent the key from being locked inside the vehicle.
- With all doors closed and locked, and with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly in the trunk room and the trunk closed, check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds (approx. 2 seconds). Also check that the trunk opens when you press the luggage door opening switch assembly.
- To check the detection range of the lockout protection function with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly in the trunk, position the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly in the directions (A) and (B) shown in the figure, and check that the lockout protection function operates normally when you check the lockout protection function for the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly locked in the trunk.WARNING:
The lockout protection function will not operate if the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is any of the locations described below.
- Near the spare tire or on the edge of the trunk room.
- Inside a bag made of metallic material or near metal objects.
NOTE:Check the trunk in two locations or more.
- Lockout protection function check (in the passenger room)WARNING:
Open one of the windows before performing this check in order to prevent the key from being locked inside the vehicle.
- Position the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly on the driver's or passenger's seat.
- Close all doors. (With all doors unlocked)
- Check that the doors do not lock and the lockout protection buzzer (exterior) sounds for 2 seconds when you touch the touch sensor (lock) of either the driver's or passenger's door.
- Keyless access cancel function check
- After setting the keyless access cancel function, check that all keyless access and start system (keyless access) functions are inoperable.
Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2021 - ]
HINT:
When keyless access is canceled, door lock and unlock can be operated by electrical key transmitter sub-assembly button operation and the starter system can be operated by passing the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly over the engine switch with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly button toward you.
- After setting the keyless access cancel function, check that all keyless access and start system (keyless access) functions are inoperable.
- Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly diagnostic mode
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Keyless Access with Push Button Start(Collation) / Utility / Keyless Access with Push Button Start.
- Select the transmitter to check from the items.
- Check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds (short blips, a continuous beeping sound for the center room antenna) when the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is near the selected transmitter or antenna.
- Using the function setting (customizing), check that the keyless access system is not OFF.
- SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT
- Blinks slowly once with the engine switch not pressed.
- Goes off when the engine switch is pressed while carrying the regular electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
- The indicator light continues to blink and the engine is not allowed to start when the engine switch is pressed while carrying a key other than the regular electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
