Surround Vision Camera System Calibration (Launch Mobile)
Mobile Repair Possible: No
Special Tools Required:
Launch Mobile ADAS Calibration Equipment - No Part Number VF8/VF9 Surround View Mats (LAC04-32-1 and LAC04-32-2) - No Part Number
Required Setup Area:
Ensure the vehicle is placed in a location with sufficient clear space around the vehicle:
- Surround View Camera Calibration - 5.3 meters by 8.3 meters area
Workstation and Vehicle Setup Considerations:
- FLAT and UNIFORM FLOOR SURFACE with sufficient space for the vehicle and equipment at same level
- UNIFORM and BRIGHT ILLUMINATION by a non-frequency flash light source such as:
- LED Lights
- Industrial Lighting complying with international standards
- Dual Light Source in opposite phase
- Light source should ensure NO REFLECTED SPOTS or SHADOWS on calibration targets
- Avoid excessive natural light through windows or door openings
- Avoid changes in brightness such as vehicles driving past with lights on
- Vehicle should be in PARK and "Driver Present" mode (Ignition ON but eMotor OFF)
- Steering Wheel CENTERED pointing straight ahead
- Doors and Hood in CLOSED position
- Mirrors in UNFOLDED position
- All Vehicle Exterior Lights OFF
- Tires INFLATED to specification
- Vehicle wheel alignment within specification
Key Measurements:
Surround View Camera Mats must be:
- LAC04-32-1: Positioned with the inner edge 1050 mm laterally from the vehicle centre line.
- LAC04-32-2: Positioned so that the inner edges of the longitudinal mats align with the outer edges and corners of the front and rear mats.
- The label tabs (1) of the LAC04-32-2 always have to be positioned the inner edge closest to the vehicle. Refer to the picture below.
Surround View Camera Calibration
- Determine the center line of the vehicle by suspending the Plumb Line (LAM09-06) against the center of the rear vehicle "V" logo and let it naturally drop to the ground. Lightly flick the string with your finger several times to confirm the string is perpendicular to the ground. Mark the ground with a Cross Sticker to indicate the Rear Center Point of the vehicle - Point (B).
- Place the Five-Line Laser Instrument (LAM09-01) at Point (B). The Logo on the Five-Line Laser Instrument should be facing towards the front of the vehicle. Ensure the red dot underneath the Five-Line Laser Instrument is aligned with the Cross Sticker at Point (B).
- Suspend the Plumb Line (LAM09-06) against the centre of the front vehicle "V" logo and let it naturally drop to the ground. Lightly flick the string with your finger several times to confirm the string is perpendicular to the ground. Mark the ground to indicate the Front Center Point of the vehicle Point (A) with one of the Cross Stickers provided.
- Place the Laser Reflector (LAM09-03) parallel to the vehicle and ensure the reflective stripe is aligned with Point (A).
- Place the Auxiliary Mirror (LAM09-04) at the rear of the vehicle, approximately located at (1). Angle the Auxiliary Mirror appropriately so that the Laser Reflector at the front of the vehicle can be viewed without needing to lie on the ground.
- Adjust the support legs of the Five-Line Laster Instrument (LAM09-01) to ensure it is level. Turn on the laser beams of the Five-Line Laser Instrument (LAM09-01).
- Observe the position of the laser beam with the auxiliary mirror LAM09-04. Rotate the fine tuning knob (2) of the 5-Line Laser Instrument (LAM09-01) to ensure the longitudinal laser beam aligns with the reflective stripe of the Laser Reflector (LAM09-03). The dotted line (P) now represents the Centre Line of the Vehicle.
- Use a Tape Measure to measure cross car a distance of 1050 mm in both directions. Mark these points with Cross Stickers as Points (B1) and (B2).
- Move the 5-Line Laser Instrument (LAM09-01) to Point A and the Laser Reflector (LAM09-03) to Point (B). Ensure the 5-Line Laser is still level and the laser beam aligns with the reflective stripe.
- Use a Tape Measure to measure cross car a distance of 1050 mm in both directions. Mark these points with Cross Stickers as Points (J1) and (J2).
- Position the Surround View Camera Mats (LAC04-32-1) approximately along either side of the car with the narrower (200 mm) border closest to the vehicle. Align the inner edge of the Left Side Mat with (J1) and (B1). Align the inner edge of the Right Side Mat with (J2) and (B2).
Alignment Note: The fore-aft position of the mats will be adjusted in the next steps
- Place the L shaped bracket (LAM09-05) in line with the centre hub of the Right Front Wheel. Measure rearwards a distance of 180 mm. Adjust the fore-aft position of the Right Side Mat (LAC04-32-1) so that distance from the Axle Centre line to grey marking (Distance X) is 180 mm. Ensure the inner edge of the mat is still aligned with (B2) and (J2).
- Repeat this measurement on the Left Side of the car again ensuring Distance X is 180 mm and the Left Side Mat (LAC04-32-1) is aligned with (B1) and (J1).
- Position the Front and Rear Mats (LAC04-32-2) in the gap between the Side Mats (LAC04-32-1) at the front and rear of the vehicle. Ensure the Label Tabs on the Front and Rear Mats (LAC04-32-2) are positioned on the edge closest to the vehicle.
Calibration note: Ensure the wheel base and the edge of the middle mat patches (distance X) is set to 180 mm.
- Align the outer corners of the Front and Rear Mats (LAC04-32-2) with the inner corners of the long Side Mats (LAC04-32-1) - (no measurements necessary).IMPORTANT: Ensure the Front and Rear Mats are positioned with the Label Tabs on the edge closest to the vehicle
- Refer to DIAGNOSTICS, PROGRAMMING & SETUP USING SCAN TOOL IN SERVICE , Follow Scan Tool instructions to trigger the MHU module "SVM Calibration" procedure for the Surround View Camera System.
- If error codes are reported on Scan Tool, refer to the table below and adjust the calibration setup as required.
- Scan Tool will confirm when Surround View Camera Calibration is complete.
- Finally complete a Diagnostic Trouble Code check to ensure the vehicle is operating correctly.
