Windshield Camera Calibration (Launch Mobile)
Mobile Repair Possible: No
Required Setup Area:
Ensure the vehicle is placed in a location with sufficient clear space around the vehicle:
- Front Windshield Camera Calibration - 1 meter either side of the vehicle and 3 meters in front
Workstation and Vehicle Setup Considerations:
- FLAT and UNIFORM FLOOR SURFACE with sufficient space for the vehicle and equipment at same level
- UNIFORM and BRIGHT ILLUMINATION by a non-frequency flash light source such as:
- LED Lights
- Industrial Lighting complying with international standards
- Dual Light Source in opposite phase
- Light source should ensure NO REFLECTED SPOTS or SHADOWS on calibration targets
- Avoid excessive natural light through windows or door openings
- Avoid changes in brightness such as vehicles driving past with lights on
- Vehicle should be in PARK and "Driver Present" mode (Ignition ON but eMotor OFF)
- Steering Wheel CENTERED pointing straight ahead
- Doors and Hood in CLOSED position
- Mirrors in UNFOLDED position
- All Vehicle Exterior Lights OFF
- Tires INFLATED to specification
- Vehicle wheel alignment within specification
Key Measurements:
Front windshield camera target pattern boards (LAM01-07-L and LAM01-07-R) must be aligned with vehicle centre line and:
- Positioned 2900 mm forward of the centre line of the front axle.
- Mounted at a height of 1498.6 mm (+/- 10 mm) from the ground to the centre line of the target
Front Windshield Camera Calibration
- Take out the Launch Mobile Calibration Frame and place it on flat ground.
- Push the lever (1) upwards as indicated and fold down the 3 caster wheel legs (2).
- Lift one cross bar up until it fully contacts the positioning bracket. Use the safety snap hook (3) to hold in place. Repeat for the other cross bar.
- Position the Launch Mobile Calibration Frame in front of the vehicle approximately 3 meters from the front of the vehicle. This will allow clear space for taking measurements and accurately positioning the frame. Attach the Cross Laser Module (LAM09-02) to Point (8) on the Calibration Frame but do not turn on at this stage.
- Determine the center line of the vehicle by suspending the Plumb Line (LAM09-06) against the center of the front vehicle "V" logo and let it naturally drop to the ground. Lightly flick the string with your finger several times to confirm the string is perpendicular to the ground. Mark the ground with a Cross Sticker to indicate the Front Center Point of the vehicle - Point (A).
- Place the Five-Line Laser Instrument (LAM09-01) at Point (A). The Logo on the Five-Line Laser Instrument should be facing towards the rear of the vehicle. Ensure the red dot underneath the Five-Line Laser Instrument is aligned with the Cross Sticker at Point (A).
- Suspend the Plumb Line (LAM09-06) against the centre of the rear vehicle "V" logo and let it naturally drop to the ground. Lightly flick the string with your finger several times to confirm the string is perpendicular to the ground. Mark the ground with a Cross Sticker to indicate the Rear Center Point of the vehicle - Point (B).
- Place the Laser Reflector (LAM09-03) parallel to the vehicle and ensure the reflective stripe is aligned with Point (B).
- Place the Auxiliary Mirror (LAM09-04) in front of the vehicle, approximately located at (4). Angle the Auxiliary Mirror appropriately so that the Laser Reflector at the rear of the vehicle can be viewed without needing to lie on the ground.
- Adjust the support legs of the Five-Line Laster Instrument (LAM09-01) to ensure it is level. Turn on the laser beams of the Five-Line Laser Instrument (LAM09-01).
- Observe the position of the laser beam with the auxiliary mirror LAM09-04. Rotate the fine tuning knob (5) of the 5-Line Laser Instrument (LAM09-01) at Point (A) to ensure the longitudinal laser beam aligns with the reflective stripe of the Laser Reflector (LAM09-03) at Point (B). The dotted line (P) now represents the Centre Line of the Vehicle.
- The calibration location requires the Target Pattern Board to be placed 2900 mm forward of the Centre Line of the Front Axle.
- Select a point approximately 500 mm forward of the front bumper on Line (P) and mark it with a Cross Sticker - Point (E).
- Place the L-shaped Bracket (LAM09-05) in line with the centre hub of the Left Front Wheel (6).
- Use a Tape Measure to measure forwards from the L-Shape Bracket a distance of 2900 mm. Mark this point with a Cross Sticker as Point (F1).
- Repeat on the Right side and mark these points with Cross Stickers as Point (F2) respectively.
- Turn on the Cross Laser Module (LAM09-02) and align the Launch Mobile Calibration Frame so that the longitudinal line is still passing through Point (A) and Point (E). The lateral lines should be passing through points (F1) and (F2). Lock the wheels of the Launch Mobile Calibration Frame at this time. Calibration note: Minor adjustment can be made to the lateral alignment using the Fine Adjustment Screw (17).
- Observe the horizontal bubble on the cross bar. If the bubble is not centered, adjust the bottom knobs (1, 2, 3) until the bubble is centered.
- Use the rotary handle (18) to set the height of the Launch Mobile Calibration Frame to 1498.6 mm as indicated by the Digital Height Gauge (H).
Calibration note: The Digital Height Gauge should be pushed all the way up into the locating slot to ensure an accurate reading.
- Ensure that the Launch Mobile Calibration Frame is still correctly located with the lateral line passing through points (F1) and (F2) and the longitudinal line pointing through Point (A) and Point (E).
- Turn off the Cross Laser Module (LAM09-02) and remove it from the Launch Mobile Calibration Frame.
- Locate the 2 mounting holes (8) on the back centre of the Target Pattern Boards (LAM01-7-R and LAM01-7-L). Align these holes with the 2 mounting lugs on the side positioning plates of the Launch Calibration Frame.
- There is a scale ruler on the horizontal bar of the equipment, the sliders should be positioned with the pointers at 550 mm on each side (W).
- Refer to DIAGNOSTICS, PROGRAMMING & SETUP USING SCAN TOOL IN SERVICE . Follow Scan Tool instructions to trigger the ADAS module "LDW Camera Calibration" procedure for the Front Windshield Camera.
- If error codes are reported on Scan Tool, refer to the table below and adjust the calibration setup as required
- Scan Tool will confirm when Front Windshield Camera Calibration is complete.
- Finally complete a Diagnostic Trouble Code check to ensure the vehicle is operating correctly.
