- Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
- Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work.
- When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components.
- Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately.
Removal Procedure:
The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side.
- There is potential for inadvertent deployment of SRS systems during repairs if the system has not been properly disabled. Refer to SRS DISABLING AND ENABLINGNOTE: Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Remove front seat back trim cover and foam pad. Refer to FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM COVER AND FOAM PAD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove the front seat back airbag (1). Refer to FRONT SEAT BACK AIRBAG (INBOARD OR OUTBOARD) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Replacement Procedure:
- Rebuild suspension mat.
- Rebuild the front recliner power motor with the connecting rod. Refer to FRONT SEAT RECLINER MOTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Installation Procedure:
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
- Install front seat back trim cover and foam pad. Refer to FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM COVER AND FOAM PAD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
