12V Battery
The 12V battery is located in the back of the front trunk compartment, on the passenger side behind the front trunk tub. It can be accessed for inspection via an inspection cover.
The low voltage electrical system works with an operating voltage of 12 volts.
The 12V battery is used to power the high voltage battery relays. This allows safe disconnection of the high voltage system in case of servicing or an accident.
The 12V system also powers the vehicle communication network and most of the non-drive related electrical vehicle functions.
The battery has a capacity of 65 Ah and is charged by the high voltage system via the DC/DC converter of the 3-in-l Module. The negative battery terminal is equipped with the 12V battery sensor (BAS), which monitors the battery voltage and temperature. The pre-fuse box for high current fuses is attached to the positive terminal.
When the battery is charged, the open circuit voltage is generally between 12.5-13.8V.
If the voltage is below 9.6V when tested, the battery needs to be replaced.
If the voltage is below 12.4V, the battery should be charged.
Use a multimeter to measure the internal resistance of the battery, normally it should be about 7.5mΩ.
