Right Rear Window Does Not Operate
NOTE:
Refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS for terminal identification.
- Voltage Supply Check Ensure power windows are mechanically okay. Ensure battery is fully charged. Verify circuit breaker S43 is okay. Ensure fuse No. 16 is also okay. Ensure 21-pin connector in "B" pillar is properly connected. Use Test Kit (VW 1594) to make all necessary electrical connections.
- Turn ignition off. Remove right rear window switch from right rear door. Disconnect 6-pin connector from switch. Connect negative voltmeter lead to 6-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 4. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 6-pin connector terminal No. 3. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 6-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 4. Connect positive lead to 6-pin connector terminal No. 1. Turn ignition on. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open.
- Right Rear Window Switch Check Turn ignition off. Connect negative ohmmeter lead to 6-pin connector terminal No. 4. Connect positive ohmmeter lead to 6-pin connector terminal No. 5. Place switch in lower window (down) position. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, replace right rear window switch.
- Connect negative ohmmeter lead to 6-pin connector terminal No. 3. Connect positive ohmmeter lead to 6-pin connector terminal No. 5. Place switch in raise window (up) position. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, replace right rear window switch.
- Wiring Harness Check Remove door trim panel from right rear door. Disconnect 15-pin connector from right rear power window control module. Connect negative ohmmeter lead to 6-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 5. Connect positive ohmmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 3. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 15. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 7. Turn ignition on. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 11. Place right rear window switch (in center console) in raise window (up) position. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open or replace right rear window switch (in center console).
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 11. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 15. Place right rear window switch (in center console) in lower window (down) position. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open or replace right rear window switch (in center console).
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 6. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 15. Place power window lock-out switch (in center console) in locked position. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open or replace window lock-out switch.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 5. Actuate driver's door contact switch (close door). If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open or replace driver's door contact switch.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 8. Using key, hold driver's door lock switch in open (unlock) position. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open or replace driver's door lock switch.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 14. Using key, hold driver's door lock switch in lock position. If 12 volts are present, go to next step. If 12 volts are not present, repair open or replace driver's door lock switch.
- Connect negative voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect positive voltmeter lead to 15-pin wiring harness connector terminal No. 2. Using key, hold driver's door lock switch in lock position. If 12 volts are not present, repair open or replace driver's door lock switch. If 12 volts are present after doors are locked, replace right rear window control module.
