Selector Mechanism Without Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

Do not lubricate the selector lever cable.

After installing the selector mechanism, the selector lever cable must be checked for ease of movement and adjusted.

-- Guide the cable on the selector mechanism, insert in the selector lever and install the new lock washer.

The distance -a- of the threaded pins -2- to the openings in the vehicle interior must be even all the way around.

-- Tighten the nuts -A and B arrows-.

-- Install the tunnel heat shield. Refer to OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

-- Install the center console cover. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the center console trim panel in the front footwell. Refer to FRONT FOOTWELL CENTER CONSOLE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the selector lever handle. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Check and adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

-- Check the selector mechanism. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .
