Engine, Installing
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
If the Engine and Transmission Were Separated:
Vehicles with Manual Transmission
-- Insert the intermediate plate. Refer to Intermediate Plate, Removing and Installing .
-- Make sure that the alignment sleeves for centering the engine and transmission are present.
Vehicles with DSG Transmission
-- Install the intermediate plate. Refer to Intermediate Plate, Removing and Installing .
-- Make sure that the alignment sleeves for centering the engine and transmission are present.
-- Make sure that a new needle bearing is installed. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Tighten the transmission to the engine. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Guide the engine/transmission assembly into the body.
-- Install the bolts -arrows- all the way by hand, for this, use a commercially available step ladder.
-- Install the bolts -arrows- all the way by hand, for this, use a commercially available step ladder.
-- Remove the engine bracket.
-- Refer to Assembly Mounts, Checking and Adjusting .
-- Tighten the engine and transmission mount.
Vehicles with Manual Transmission
If the Clutch Hydraulics were Opened:
-- Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

Vehicles with DSG Transmission
-- Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

If a New Engine was Installed:
-- Perform the adaptation values after replacing components using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .
