SERVICE INFORMATION

To avoid having to change the entire ECC control module due to damage to the front panel this part will now be available separately.

The front panel has P/N 9134986-0 for degrees Centigrade and 9134987-8 for Fahrenheit calibration.

The slide control knob for the blower fan must also be replaced when installing a new front panel. The slide control knob has

P/N 3522627-3.

This service bulletin describes the method for replacing the front panel.

In order to replace the front panel, the control module must be removed from the car. The method for this operation is described in the Service Manual Section 8 (87) Climate control 850 1992- TP 31861/2 Section BD, Connecting and disconnecting Test box.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

ECC control module. replacement on front panel

Remove knob on slide control for blower fan (pulls off, can be discarded). See Fig 1 /

Remove the small light conductor behind the knob (pulls off, to be reinstalled after installing new front panel).

Remove:

* tape over control module. See Fig 2 .

* anti-squeak shield over control module.

Apply tape to the control knobs to protect them from damage when using plier.

Carefully pull off control knobs with a pair of pliers. See Fig 3 .

Remove three screws retaining the front panel. See Fig 4 .

Remove four screws retaining the front section. See Fig 5 .

Pull out front section.

Remove remaining two screws retaining the front panel to the front section. See Fig 6 .

Remove front panel.

Install new front panel. See Fig 7 .

Reinstall front section, anti-squeak shield, tape, light conductor and controls on the control module.

NOTE: The knob on the blower fan control slide should be a new one, (P/N 3522627-3).

Remove tape on knobs.

Reinstall control module in car.
