Front Disc

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel to be measured.
  2. Remove mounting screw for brake caliper holder. Hang brake caliper from spring using a wire.
  3. Install Clamp Ring (999 5419) included in Measurement Tool Set (999 5418) on hub. See Fig 1 .
  4. Secure clamp ring using wheel lug nuts.
  5. Ensure mating surfaces on brake disc and clamp ring are clean and free of rust.
  6. Tighten studs lightly, then tighten crosswise to 81 ft. lbs. (110 N.m).
  7. Install bracket for upper mounting hole first. See Fig 2 .
  8. Press bracket against constant velocity joint housing.
  9. Install lower mounting screw in hole. At the same time, secure bracket using lower screw and tighten.
  10. Install dial indicator in the bracket. See Fig 3 .
  11. Place dial indicator point against brake disc. See Fig 4 .
  12. Rotate brake disc and note dial indicator lateral run-out.
  13. Brake disc lateral runout must not exceed specifications. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS  . If lateral run-out exceeds this value, replace brake disc.
  14. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use new bolts on caliper holder and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
