Antenna Module (ATM) (2003-2006): Design: GPS

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2014 Volvo XC90, 2013 Volvo XC90, 2012 Volvo XC90, 2011 Volvo XC90, and 2010 Volvo XC90. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The data transmitted from the GPS unit consists of signals received from GPS satellites.

The GPS unit transmits the signal to the multimedia module (MMM) via the MOST network.

The navigation system requires at least three satellites in order calculate the position of the car. The position calculated from the GPS satellites is accurate to within 25 meters.

The power supply to the GPS unit is from the antenna module (ATM).

The GPS unit is integrated with the antenna module (ATM) and transmits signals via the MOST network.

NOTE:

If the GPS signal is being diagnosed because it is missing, the signal should be tested outdoors. This is because the signal may be blocked if the vehicle is indoors.
