Disabling System

WARNING: Wait at least 3 minutes after deactivating air bag system. System maintains voltage for about 3 minutes after battery is disconnected. Servicing air bag system before 3 minutes may cause accidental air bag deployment and possible personal injury.
CAUTION: Radio has a coded theft protection circuit. Before disconnecting battery cables, obtain radio anti-theft code number from customer. After reconnecting power, turn radio
  1. Word CODE will be displayed. Enter customer 5-digit code to restore radio operation.
  1. To disable SRS, turn ignition off. Wait at least 3 minutes to allow capacitor in back-up circuit to discharge, preventing a malfunction of seat belt pretensioner or accidental deployment of air bag.
  2. Disconnect battery cables. Remove maintenance lid below driver-side air bag. See Fig 1 . Remove Red short connector. Unplug 3-pin connector between air bag and cable reel. Connect Red short connector to air bag side of connector. On models equipped with anti-theft circuit, connect SRS Short Connector "A" (07MAZ-SP00200) to cable reel side of connector. See Fig 2 .

  3. Remove glove box. Unplug connector between passenger-side air bag and SRS harness. Plug Red short connector into air bag side of connector. Install SRS Short Connector (07MAZ-SP0020A) into SRS wiring harness. See Fig 3 and Fig 4 .
