VSA Modulator Fluid

  1. Clean around the modulator unit. Remove the reservoir cap, diaphragm plate filter, and diaphragm. See Fig 1 .
  2. NOTE: Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle; it may damage the paint; if brake fluid gets on paint, wash off with water immediately. Install the filter. Fill the VSA reservoir with brake fluid until it reaches the upper line of filter.
  3. Clean the filter. Remove the brake fluid from the VSA reservoir.
  4. Install in reverse order of removal and hand tighten the bolts. Operate the pump motor by driving the vehicle at 6 MPH or more. Repeat all steps and test drive the vehicle at 18 MPH or more for a few seconds, and check that the ABS indicator and VSA indicator do not come on. Tighten the VSA reservoir cap bolts to the specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
