Turn Signal Switch Assembly, Buzzer Switch Assembly, & Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set: Install

  1. See Figure through Figure . Install turn signal connector through lock housing cover and steering column housing shroud.
  2. Install steering column lock cylinder set while in ACC position, lock retaining screw and torque to 2.5 N.m (22 in.lbs.).
  3. Push buzzer switch down into its retaining bore until bottomed with plastic tab covering lock retaining screw. Install buzzer switch and buzzer switch wires to turn signal switch connector as shown. See Figure .
    • Light Green wire to Location 9
    • Tan/Black wire to Location 10
      NOTE: Wire terminal retainer must be removed and discarded from service buzzer switch wire.
  4. Install wire connector retainer, turn signal switch connector, wire protector, turn signal switch and screws and torque to 6.8 N.m (59 lbs. in.)
    NOTE: Position turn signal switch so that screws can be installed through openings switch.
  5. Install turn signal lever. Torque screw to 6 N.m (53 in.lbs.)
    NOTE: Turn signal switch must be in "Neutral" position to install upper bearing spring.
  6. Install upper bearing spring, turn signal cancel cam assembly, steering shaft lock and shaft lock retainer to upper steering shaft using Lock Plate Compressor (J-23653-A) to slightly depress shaft lock.
  7. Install carrier snap ring retainer and steering shaft bumper.
  8. Extend shaft and lock in place. Install steering wheel.
  9. Install jam nut and torque to 41 N.m (30 ft.lbs.).
  10. Remove Lock Plate Compression Screw J-23653-10.
