Turn Signal Switch Assembly, Buzzer Switch Assembly, & Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set: Removal

  1. See Figure through Fig 1 . Remove steering wheel, steering shaft bumper and carrier snap ring retainer.
    NOTE: Lock Plate Compressor Screw (J-23653-10) must be installed and torqued to 4.5 N.m (40 lbs. in.) in upper steering shaft to keep shaft from telescoping.
  2. Remove shaft lock retainer from steering shaft using Lock Plate Compressor (J-23653-A) to slightly depress shaft lock. Remove steering shaft lock, turn signal cancel cam assembly and upper bearing spring.
    NOTE: Turn signal must be in "Neutral" position to remove upper bearing spring.
  3. Remove turn signal lever.
    NOTE: Before removing turn signal lever, position switch so that screws can be removed through opening in turn signal switch.
  4. Remove turn signal switch screws, turn signal switch, wire protector and turn signal switch connector.

  5. Buzzer switch wires from turn signal switch connector using Terminal Remover (J-35689-A) as shown. See Fig 1 .
  6. Remove buzzer switch assembly using needle nose pliers.
  7. Place lock cylinder in ACC position, and remove lock retaining screw.
  8. Remove steering column lock cylinder set.
  9. Remove turn signal switch assembly and gently pull wires and connector through steering column housing shroud.
