Powertrain Control Module (Pcm) & Prom: Installation
- Install PCM mounting bracket and mounting clips.
- Install PROM.
- Install PROM cover.
- Install PCM connectors.
- Install screw mounting PCM and PCM bracket to body.
- Install right hush panel.
- Start engine. Engine should start and run. If it does not, verify that the PCM contains the correct PROM, the PCM is properly connected to the harness, and that fuses B7 (Trunk compartment fuse block) and A7 (Console fuse block) are present and not blown.
- Enter diagnostics and select PCM override PS15. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.
- Codes P052 and P109 should appear. Clear PCM codes.
- PCM OVERRIDE should be accessible. If PCM OVERRIDE is not accessible or a "NO PCM DATA" message is displayed, verify that the PCM contains the correct PROM, the PCM is properly connected to the harness, and that fuses B7 (Trunk compartment fuse block) and A7 (Console fuse block) are present and not blown.
- Enter Transaxle Oil Life recorded prior to PCM replacement.
- Perform TP Sensor/Idle Learn procedure. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
NOTE:
Press only on the ends of the PROM. Small notches in the PROM must be aligned with the small notches in the PROM connector. Press on the ends of the PROM until the retaining clips swing up into the ends of the PROM. Press the clips into the sides of the PROM until they snap in place. DO NOT press on the middle of the PROM.
