Removal & Installation (With UM5 & UQ4)

  1. Open rear compartment lid. Remove cargo net and plastic screws attaching sill plate to vehicle. Remove sill plate. Remove rear compartment mat and spare tire cover retainer bolt. Remove spare tire cover, spare tire, scissor jack and mounting bolt.
  2. Remove 4 screws from OnStar(R) module bracket assembly, if equipped. Disengage retainers securing coaxial cable to seat back panel. Lower OnStar(R) module bracket assembly into rear compartment.
  3. Remove remote CD changer, if necessary. Remove cargo net trim panel retainers. Remove the push-in retainers located near the rear compartment lid hinges which retain the rear compartment trim panel. Remove rear compartment trim panel from vehicle.
  4. Push lower forward edge of rear seat cushion rearward to disengage retainers and lift upward and pull to remove. Remove nuts securing the seat back studs to cross car beam support from inside rear compartment. Remove nuts securing seat back guide wire loops to center seat belts and remove seat back.
  5. Remove 2 nuts securing electronics bay board from lower section of seat back panel. Lift upward to disengage upper tabs from pass-through panel. Carefully lay electronics bay board into rear compartment. Disconnect relay centers and rear fuse block from the seat back panel.

Release retainers attaching Radio Interface Module (RIM) to bay board. See Figure . Disconnect electrical connectors and remove RIM. To install, reverse removal procedure.
