Test 19: Lumbar Support Does Not Move Up/Down - Without A45

  1. Perform LUMBAR SUPPORT SYSTEM CHECK - WITHOUT A45  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe lumbar switch connector terminal "B" (Tan wire) for left side, or terminal "C" (Pink wire) for right side. See Figure . Press lumbar up switch. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  5 .
  3. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe lumbar switch connector terminal "C" (Pink wire) for left side, or terminal "B" (Orange wire) for right side. Press lumbar down switch. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  5 .
  4. Disconnect lumbar vertical motor connector. Connect test light between 2-pin lumbar horizontal motor connector terminals "A" (Pink wire or Tan/White wire) and "B" (Orange wire or Purple/White wire). Operate lumbar switch in up and down directions. If test light illuminates in both directions, go to step  6 . If test light does not illuminate in both directions, go to step  7 .
  5. Check lumbar switch connector for poor connections. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  10 . If problem is not found, go to step  8 .
  6. Check lumbar vertical motor connector for poor connections. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  10 . If problem is not found, go to step  9 .
  7. Repair open in Tan wire, Pink wire, Purple wire, Orange wire, Tan/White wire or Purple White wire between power seat switch and lumbar vertical motor. After repairs, go to step  10 .
  8. Replace lumbar switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCHES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace lumbar vertical motor. See SEAT MOTORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, go to next step.
  10. Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, repair is complete. If system does not operate normally, return to step  2 .
