Installation Procedure

  1. Install the generator cable (2) to the junction block.
  2. Install the generator cable nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  3. Close the positive cable junction block.

  5. Install the generator cable to the generator, perform the following:
    1. Install the generator cable to the stud.
    2. Install the generator cable nut.

      Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

    3. Position the boot to cover the stud.
  6. If necessary, install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L (RPO LQ4)) or Engine Sight Shield Replacement (6.0L (RPO LQ9)) in Engine Mechanical - 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L, or Engine Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
