Retrieving Codes & Testing Abs Using Tech 1: Notes

  1. The TECH 1 and Bosch ABS ALDL Adapter are used to test ABS system. The TECH 1 is connected to Assembly Line Data Link (ALDL) connector. The ALDL connector is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. See Figure.
  2. The ABS system is disabled by EBCM when testing with TECH 1. The SERVICE ABS light will come on while performing tests when ignition is turned on. Ensure ignition is off before disconnecting or connecting TECH 1.
CAUTION: Once TECH 1 is disconnected, ensure ignition is off at least 10 seconds before road testing vehicle. This allows system to return to normal operation. When testing is completed, ignition must remain off for at least 10 seconds to return ABS system to normal operation.
  3. The following tests are available on the TECH 1: 5 test modes (MODE F0 - MODE F4), Pressure-Reduce test, Pressure-Hold test and Auto test. Operation of each test on TECH 1 is as follows.
