System Check

NOTE: If system does not function as specified, go to appropriate symptom test under SYMPTOM TESTS  .
  1. Sit in driver's seat and close driver's door. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Leave driver's seat belt unbuckled. Fasten seat belt chime should sound 4-8 seconds. Buckle driver's seat belt. Fasten seat belt chime should not sound.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave ignition key-in ignition switch. Open driver' door. Key-in ignition chime should sound 6-9 times within 3-4 seconds, then once every 3-4 seconds. Remove ignition key. Key-in ignition chime should not sound.
  3. With ignition switch in OFF position and driver's door open, turn headlight switch to PARK position. Lights on chime should sound 5 times per second. Turn headlight switch to OFF position, Lights on chime should not sound.
  4. Open front passenger's door. Courtesy lights should come on. Close all doors. Courtesy lights should go off.
    NOTE: Perform procedures in following step within 15 seconds. If chime and/or interior lights do not operate as specified, replace MAM. See MULTIFUNCTION ALARM MODULE (MAM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Set parking brake. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Open front passenger's door. Cycle headlight switch from OFF to PARK position 3 times. MAM should not chime and interior lights should flash until ignition switch is turned to OFF position.
  6. After performing appropriate symptom test(s) and making repairs, repeat SYSTEM CHECK to ensure system is operational.
