Installation Procedure
- Install the steering gear to the driver's side of the vehicle.
- Install the steering gear insulator (3) to the steering gear.
- Install the steering gear insulator retaining bracket (2) to the steering gear insulator (3).
- Install the NEW steering gear to frame retaining bolts (1). Tighten the frame retaining bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Use the EN-45059 sensorin order to tighten the frame retaining bolts an additional 120 degrees.
- Remove the plug from the steering gear inlet pipe/hose (6).
- Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to power steering gear retaining banjo bolt (2) and the NEW copper sealing washers (1). Tighten the banjo bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).
- Remove the plug from the steering gear outlet pipe/hose (5).
- Install the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose to power steering gear retaining banjo bolt (3) and the NEW copper sealing washers (4). Tighten the banjo bolt to 52 N.m (38 lb ft).
- Connect the driver's side front lower control front arm to the steering knuckle. Refer to Front Lower Control Front Arm Replacement .
- Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear pinion shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
- Install the 2 outer tie rods. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
- Install the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
- Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose bracket to frame retaining bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose bracket to frame retaining bolt (2) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
- Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
- Remove the drain pans.
- Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
