Installation Procedure
- If any components of EN-51146
remover are installed to the fuel rail, perform the following procedure.
- Remove the bolts (1) and EN-51146-100 plate (2).
- Clean the fuel injector bolts of any residual threadlock agent.
- Remove only the front EN-51146-1-6 demounting screw and EN-51146-1-1 support (3) for the first fuel injector.
- Apply one drop of threadlock agent onto the NEW bolt (4). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Install the NEW fuel injector bolt (4) and tighten to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
- Remove the rear EN-51146-1-6 demounting screw and EN-51146-1-1 support (6) for the first fuel injector.
- Apply one drop of threadlock agent onto the NEW bolt (5). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Install the NEW fuel injector bolt (5) and tighten to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
- Repeat the same procedure for the remaining fuel injectors with EN-51146-1-6 demounting screw and EN-51146-1-1 supports still attached.
- Connect the fuel injector wiring harness plugs, if necessary.
NOTE:If the plate is not installed on the supports, it is likely one or more fuel injectors have been replaced. Disregard the following steps for fuel injectors that have already been replaced.
CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
- Ensure the fuel rail assembly and fuel injector bores have been cleaned prior to installation.
- Carefully install the fuel rail assembly (1).
- Push the fuel injectors slightly in their seats.
- Tighten the 4 lower fuel rail bolts in increments of 1 turn until they are seated.
- Tighten the 4 lower fuel rail bolts in the sequence as shown to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Tighten the 4 upper fuel rail bolts in the sequence as shown to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement
- Connect Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Wiring Harness.
- Install Ignition Coil Replacement
- Connect Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9)
- Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
- Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
- Inspect for fuel leaks.
NOTE:
During the installation of the fuel rail and injector assembly, ensure that the fuel injectors are positioned straight into the injector opening. Failure to follow this caution can tilt or bend the injectors and could cause leaks or malfunction after installation.
