Component Tests: Motor
- This test will by-pass power seat switch to determine if switch or specified motor is at fault. Remove power seat position switch and disconnect switch from wiring harness. See POWER SEAT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check voltage between terminals No. 5 (Black wire) and No. 1 (Red wire) at power seat switch harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in power or ground circuits.
- Using 2 jumper wires, connect one jumper wire to battery supply. Connect second jumper wire to chassis ground. Connect other end of wires to pins as described in MOTOR TESTS AT POWER SEAT SWITCH CONNECTOR table to check seat action. See Fig 1 . If motor still does not work, check wiring between power seat switch connector and motor. If wiring is okay, replace motor.
