Idle Learn Procedure

Whenever battery cables, Engine Control Module (ECM), or fuse is disconnected or replaced, following idle learn procedure must be performed:

  1. Turn ignition ON for 5 seconds. Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds. Turn ignition ON for 5 seconds.
  2. Start engine in park or neutral. Allow engine to run until engine coolant is above 185° F (85° C).
  3. Turn A/C ON for 10 seconds, if equipped. Turn A/C OFF for 10 seconds.
  4. If vehicle is equipped with an automatic transaxle, apply parking brake. While pressing brake pedal, place transaxle in "D" (drive).
  5. Turn A/C On for 10 seconds. Turn A/C Off for 10 seconds, if equipped. Turn ignition OFF. The idle learn procedure is complete.
