Power Door Lock Test 19B - Shorted Key-In Ignition Circuit
NOTE:
Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 19A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Figure in CHIME TEST 4B. Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "A". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) on BCM connector "A". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Blue wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
