Windshield Wiper Test 11A - Rear Wiper Not Operating In Intermittent Mode
NOTE:
Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Press intermittent rear wiper switch to ON position. If switch indicator light does not illuminate, replace Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module (integral with instrument panel unit). If light does illuminate, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, monitor rear wiper switch voltage. If voltage is about 1.3 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 1.3 volts, replace HVAC control module.
- Disconnect rear wiper motor connector. Connect test light between ground and terminal No. 1 (Brown/Gray wire) on rear wiper motor connector. Ensure intermittent switch is still in ON position. Monitor test light for 30 seconds (minimum). If test light cycles on, and then off, replace rear wiper motor. If test light does not illuminate, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A.
