Windshield Wiper Test 8A - Wiper Constantly Operating With Switch In Off Position

NOTE: Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure ignition and wiper switch are in OFF position. Using scan tool, read intermittent wiper voltage. If voltage is .1 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than .1 volts, replace multi-function switch.
  2. Replace front wiper ON relay in Power Distribution Center (PDC) with known good relay. See Figure in EXTERIOR LIGHTS TEST 2A. If wipers stop operating, replace relay. If wipers continue to operate, go to next step.
  3. Remove wiper ON relay. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal "C" on wiper relay socket. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair wiper ON relay control circuit (Red/Violet wire) for short to ground. If resistance is 100 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
