Power Door Lock Test 1A - Identifying Power Door Lock Problems
NOTE:
Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, read diagnostic trouble codes. If any door lock or unlock code(s) are present, go to TEST 2A for lock code and TEST 3A for unlock code. See POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table. If no codes are present, go to next step.
- Lower both front windows. Remove key from ignition. Close all doors. Lock and unlock doors from all door switches. If door locks operate properly, go to next step. If any door(s) fail to lock or unlock properly, go to appropriate test. See POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table.
- Insert key in ignition switch. Open left front door. Using door lock switch, lock doors. Doors should not lock. If doors did not lock, go to next step. If doors lock, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 6A.
- If vehicle is not equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with RKE, operate door locks using transmitter. If door lock system does not operate correctly, go to KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM - REMOTE article for Dakota or go to KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM - REMOTE article for Durango. On Durango models, if no problems are found and system still does not operate correctly, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 7A .
- Close and unlock all doors. Drive vehicle at a speed greater than 15 MPH. If doors do not lock, using scan tool, select ROLLING LOCKS from customer preferences screen.
