Windshield Wiper Test 3A - Wipers Not Working In Intermittent Mode
NOTE:
Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- If problem is wipers parking in wrong position, go to WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 3B . If problem is not wipers parking in wrong position, go to next step.
- Gain access to wiper motor connector. Turn wipers on to low speed. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and wiper motor switch terminal No. 2 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage does not cycle between zero and 12 volts, go to WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 3B . If voltage cycles between zero and 12 volts, go to next step.
- Locate Central Timer Module (CTM). CTM is located behind right kick panel. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and backprobe of CTM 14-pin Green connector "A" terminal No. 11 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). Wipers should be operating at low speed. If voltage does not cycle between zero and 12 volts, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire between CTM and wiper relay or park switch. If voltage cycles between zero and 10 volts, replace CTM.
