Chime Sounds With Driver Door Open, Key Removed
- Ensure headlight switch is turned off. Remove key from ignition switch. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, select display for key-in ignition switch state. If scan tool display reads KEY IN IGN CHIME STATE ON, go to next step. If display does not read key-in ignition chime state as ON, system is operating properly. Perform appropriate test procedure for symptoms present. See SYMPTOM INDEX DIRECTORY table.
- Disconnect headlight switch connector. Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. Disconnect ignition switch or ignition switch pigtail connector (as equipped). Disconnect Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and CTM connector C1 terminal No. 9 (Light Blue wire). If reading is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST . If reading is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between terminals of key-in switch, with key removed from ignition switch lock cylinder. If reading is less than 10 ohms, replace ignition switch. If reading is 10 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Connect CTM connector C1. Connect headlight switch connector. While monitoring scan tool display KEY IN IGN CHIME STATE ON, disconnect headlight switch connector. If message displayed changes state from ON with headlight switch connected, to OFF with headlight switch disconnected, replace headlight switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST . If scan tool message displayed does not change, perform appropriate test procedure for symptoms present. See SYMPTOM INDEX DIRECTORY table.
