Liftgate Ajar Circuit Open (Durango)

  1. Open liftgate door. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch state. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH CLOSED, fault is not present at this time. Retest system. If conditions remain, refer to appropriate procedure(s) for symptoms present or fault messages displayed. See SYMPTOM INDEX DIRECTORY  table. If scan tool does not display liftgate ajar switch state as CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and liftgate ajar switch connector Tan/Black wire terminal. If reading is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Tan/Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  3. Disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Disconnect CTM connector terminal No. 2. Measure resistance between liftgate ajar switch connector Tan/Black wire terminal and CTM connector C2 terminal No. 15. If reading is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Tan/Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and CTM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  4. Ensure liftgate ajar switch is in unlatched position. Measure resistance across terminals of liftgate latch ajar switch. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, replace defective liftgate latch switch. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, replace CTM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
