Air Bag Verification Test

  1. Connect all previously disconnected components, except negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position and reconnect negative battery cable. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, erase the stored DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 15 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  2. Wait one minute. Using scan tool, read active codes. If there are no active codes present, read stored codes present. If equipped with passenger's side air bag, read DTCs with passenger's side air bag on/off switch in either position, then check for DTCs with switch in other position.
  3. If scan tool shows any stored codes, see DTC MESSAGE INDEX DIRECTORY  and SYMPTOMS INDEX DIRECTORY  tables. If any DTC set during road test, refer to symptom list for further testing. If DTCs did not set during road test, repair is complete.
