Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any previously disconnected components and connectors.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Central Timer Module (CTM) C2 White connector. Gain access to and disconnect suspect side or rear door ajar switch 1-pin connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of auxiliary door ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire) between suspect door ajar switch connector terminal and CTM C2 White connector terminal No. 15. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Brown/Tan wire.
- Gain access to and disconnect rear door ajar switch 1-pin connector. Ensure rear door ajar switch is properly grounded. Connect a jumper wire between ground and rear door ajar switch 1-pin connector, auxiliary door ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). Using scan tool, read AUXILIARY DOOR SW status. If scan tool displays AUXILIARY DOOR SW: CLOSED, replace rear door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display AUXILIARY DOOR SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Gain access to and disconnect side door ajar switch 1-pin connector. Ensure side door ajar switch is properly grounded. Connect a jumper wire between ground and side door ajar switch 1-pin connector, auxiliary door ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). Using scan tool, read AUXILIARY DOOR SW status. If scan tool displays AUXILIARY DOOR SW: CLOSED, replace rear door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display AUXILIARY DOOR SW: CLOSED, replace CTM.
