Cylinder Lock Switch Failure/Unlock

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon and 2000 Dodge Ram Van. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS after each repair.
NOTE: Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any previously disconnected components and connectors.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, VTSS, SENSORS then read CYLINDER LOCK SW voltage. If voltage is more than 2.8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2.8 volts or less, go to step  4.
  2. Insert door key into driver's door key cylinder. Using door key, lock and unlock door several times. If door switch does not move freely, repair or replace lock assembly. If door switch moves freely, go to next step.
  3. Insert door key into passenger's door key cylinder. Using door key, lock and unlock door several times. If door switch does not move freely, repair or replace lock assembly. If door switch moves freely, test is complete.
  4. Turn ignition off. Access and disconnect driver's door key cylinder switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read CYLINDER LOCK SW voltage. If voltage is more than 2.8 volts, replace driver's door key cylinder switch. If voltage is 2.8 volts or less, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Access and disconnect passenger's door key cylinder switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read CYLINDER LOCK SW voltage. If voltage is more than 2.8 volts, replace passenger's door key cylinder switch. If voltage is 2.8 volts or less, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Central Timer Module (CTM) C2 White connector. Access and disconnect driver's door key cylinder switch connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and CTM C2 White connector terminal No. 10, cylinder lock switch MUX circuit (Black/Orange wire). See Figure. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Orange wire. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, leave CTM C2 White connector disconnected and go to next step.
  7. Access and disconnect passenger's door key cylinder switch connector. Using external ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and CTM C2 White connector terminal No. 10, cylinder lock switch MUX circuit (Black/Orange wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Orange wire. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, replace CTM.
