Rear Anti-Lock Brake System Wheel Speed Sensor (All Models)

The vehicle speed and distance traveled are determined by rear wheel speed sensor. Rear wheel speed sensor is mounted on top of rear axle housing, above the ring gear. The rear ABS wheel speed sensor provides a wheel speed signal to the Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB). The CAB then sends an input signal to indicate vehicle speed and distance traveled through CCD Bus circuits to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

PCM uses input signal for controlling cruise control system, fuel system and automatic transmission (if equipped). The CAB is mounted on top of the hydraulic control unit. Hydraulic control unit contains the pump assembly that brakelines are attached to and is mounted in the engine compartment. On 4.7L models, a vehicle speed signal is sent to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
