Incomplete Latch Release - Full Open Switch Failure
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate power sliding door several times if possible. Recheck for DTCs. If INCOMPLETE LATCH CINCH - FULL OPEN SWITCH FAILURE resets, go to next step. If INCOMPLETE LATCH CINCH - FULL OPEN SWITCH FAILURE does not reset, system is okay at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Visually inspect sliding door for proper alignment, damaged strikers, damaged latches or obstructions. Repair as necessary. Open sliding door to full open. Hold door open and observe hold open latch located in lower drive unit. See Figure. Operate door handle while observing hold open latch. If hold open latch operates when door handle is operated, go to next step. If hold open latch does not operate when door handle is operated, diagnose power sliding door by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING in POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE article.
- Hold door open and observe hold open latch located in lower drive unit. Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TEST and perform SLIDING DOOR LATCH RELEASE TEST. If hold open latch operates when release test is commanded, go to next step. If hold open latch does not operate when release test is commanded, replace sliding door cinch/release motor.
- Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor FULL OPEN SWITCH state. Open sliding door fully and then close halfway several times. If FULL OPEN SWITCH state does not change from CLOSED to OPEN when sliding door is moved from full open to close direction, go to next step. If FULL OPEN SWITCH state changes from CLOSED to OPEN when sliding door is moved from full open to close direction, replace Power Sliding Door Module (PSDM). See POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Locate and disconnect full open switch connector. See Fig 1. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe full open switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Gray wire; left sliding door, Black/Yellow wire; right sliding door). If test light illuminates brightly, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate brightly, repair open in ground circuit for full open switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Disconnect PSDM connector C2. See Figure. See POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange wire between full open switch connector terminal No. 1 and PSDM connector C2 terminal No. 14. See Figure or Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PSDM connector C2 terminal No. 14 (Orange wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace full open switch (part of lower drive unit). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Orange wire.
