Ambient Temperature Sensor Circuit Short To Ground

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate power liftgate several times. Recheck for DTCs. If AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND resets, go to next step. If AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Disconnect Power Liftgate Module (PLGM) connector C2. See Figure. To access connector, left rear trim will need to be removed. See POWER LIFTGATE MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 16 (Violet/Light Blue wire). See Figure. If resistance is greater than 5000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Light Blue wire.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminals No. 16 (Violet/Light Blue wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, replace PLGM.
  4. Disconnect license plate light connector. See Figure. To access connector, door panel will need to be removed. For removal and installation procedures, see POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminals No. 16 (Violet/Light Blue wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, replace ambient temperature sensor (part of license plate light assembly). If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short between Violet/Light Blue and Black/Light Green wires.
