Powertrain Control Module

NOTE: If replacing the PCM, the correct vehicle mileage and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be programmed into PCM to prevent Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) from being set in Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) and Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Air Bag Control Module (ACM). When replacing PCM, Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS) secret key data must be programmed into the replacement PCM using the DRBIII(R). If replacing both PCM and Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), program PCM first. All vehicle keys will need to be replaced and programmed to the new SKIM.

Turn ignition off. Connect DRBIII(R) to DLC. Turn ignition on. Place transmission in Park or Neutral. Using the DRBIII(R), select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, then MISCELLANEOUS. Select PCM REPLACED (GAS ENGINE).

NOTE: If incorrect unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) is entered 3 times, SKIM will be locked for one hour. To unlock SKIM, turn ignition on and allow it to remain on for one hour. Ensure all accessories are turned off. Monitor battery state-of-charge and connect a battery charger if necessary.

Obtain vehicle's unique PIN assigned to SKIM from vehicle owner or manufacturer. Reprogram pinion factor and perform shift quality quick learn procedure for TCM. See TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE and COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. Enter secured access mode by entering the vehicle 4-digit PIN. Select ENTER to update PCM VIN. Press ENTER to transfer secret key data from SKIM to PCM. Press PAGE BACK to get to SELECT SYSTEM MENU. Select ENGINE, MISCELLANEOUS and SRI MEMORY CHECK. DRBIII(R) will ask if odometer reading is between XX and XX. Select YES or NO on DRBIII(R). If NO is entered, DRBIII(R) will display ENTER ODOMETER READING.
