Diagnostic Test P0820-00

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC

Turn the ignition ON, engine NOT running.
With the scan tool, read DTCs and environmental data and record on the repair order.
With the scan tool, clear the DTC.
Using the Environmental Data recorded earlier, try to duplicate the conditions in which the DTC set. It may be necessary to test drive the vehicle.
With the scan tool, read ESM DTC's.
Did DTC P0820-00 return?

Yes
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the ESM terminals for corrosion, damage or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to power and ground circuits and connections between the ESM and the PRNDM Display. Check Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. If no trouble is found, first replace the PRNDM Display and retest. If the code returns, replace the ESM. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the ESM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ESM VERIFICATION TEST .

- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
