Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read ESM DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Record the Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. With the scan tool, read ESM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. INSPECT THE PRNDM DISPLAY HARNESS CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the Ignition Off.
    2. Carefully lift the Shifter Bezel from the console to expose the PRNDM Indicator harness connector in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to BEZEL, SHIFTER, REMOVAL .
    3. Check that the PRNDM harness connector is securely attached to the PRNDM Display.
    4. Check that the PRNDM harness connector is fully seated to the ESM.

      Is the PRNDM harness connector securely attached to the PRNDM Display and ESM?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Correctly attach the PRNDM harness connector to The PRNDM Display.
      • Perform the ESM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ESM VERIFICATION TEST  .
  3. INSPECT THE PRNDM HARNESS CONDITION 
    1. Visually inspect the PRNDM display harness for any damage that may indicate an open or shorted circuit within the harness.

      Is there any visible damage to the PRNDM display harness?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK PRNDL DISPLAY HARNESS CONNECTION AT THE PRNDM DISPLAY 
    1. Disconnect the PRNDM Display harness connector.
    2. Check the following circuits:
      • F857 Sensor Supply circuit
      • T298 Sensor Ground circuit
      • D405 LIN Bus circuit

      for corrosion, backed out, or damaged terminals. Perform a pin drag test at the terminals in the PRNDM Display harness connector

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No
