Dis Memory Code 88 - Dpi Open, IDM Open Or Spout High
- 61) Isolate High Spout. Turn key off. Disconnect HEGO sensor. Install diagnostic cable. Connect diagnostic cable to breakout box with proper "OVERLAY". Connect LED test light positive lead to J36 (SPOUT) and negative lead to J60 (VBAT-). If test light blinks continuously while cranking engine or with engine running, go to next step. If test light does not blink, go to step 63).
- 62) Isolate DPI Open. Using a Neon Spark Tester (Champion CT-436 ), check for spark at each left side plug wire with engine running. If spark is present at one or more wires, go to step 66). If not, go to step 71).
- 63) Spout High, Isolate Spout To EEC. Turn key off. Remove spout harness jumper plug from spout vehicle harness connector. Connect LED test light negative lead to J60 (VBAT-) and positive lead to EEC side of spout vehicle harness connector. If test light blinks continuously when engine is started, go to step 65). If test light does not blink, go to next step.
- 64) Spout High, Check For Short To VBAT. Turn key off. Disconnect ECA. Measure resistance between J57 (VBAT+) and spout vehicle harness connector (EEC side). If more than 10K ohms are present, circuit is shorted to VBAT between ECA and spout connector. Repair or replace as necessary and repeat QUICK TEST. If less than 10K ohms, replace ECA and repeat QUICK TEST.
- 65) Spout High, Check For Short To VBAT. Turn key off. Disconnect diagnostic cable connector from DIS module pins 1-6. Measure resistance between J57 (VBAT+) and spout harness connector (DIS side). If less than 10K ohms, circuit is shorted to VBAT between DIS module and spout connector. Repair or replace as necessary and repeat QUICK TEST. If more than 10K ohms, replace DIS module and repeat QUICK TEST.
- 66) IDM Open, Check DIS Module IDM Output. Connect LED test light positive lead to J4 (IDM D) and negative lead to J60 (VBAT-). Crank engine. If test light blinks continuously, go to next step. If test light does not blink, got step 68).
- 67) IDM Open, Check IDM Circuit Continuity. Turn key off. Measure resistance between Test Pin 4 (IDM) at vehicle harness connector and J4 (IDM) at DIS connector. If less than 5 ohms, replace ECA and repeat QUICK TEST. If more than 5 ohms, IDM circuit is open between DIS module and ECA. Repair or replace as necessary and repeat QUICK TEST.
- 68) IDM Open, Isolate ECA. Turn key off. Disconnect ECA. Crank engine. If LED test light blinks continuously, replace ECA and repeat QUICK TEST. If test light does not blink, go to next step.
- 69) IDM Open, Check For Short To Ground. Turn key off. Disconnect diagnostic cable connector from DIS module pins 7-12. Remove LED test light. Measure resistance between J4 (IDM) and J60 (VBAT-). If less than 5 ohms, IDM circuit is shorted to ground between DIS module and ECA. Repair or replace as necessary and repeat QUICK TEST. If more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- 70) IDM Open, Check For Short To VBAT. Measure resistance between J4 (IDM) and J57 (VBAT+). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, IDM circuit is shorted to VBAT between DIS module and ECA. Repair or replace as necessary and repeat QUICK TEST. If more than 5 ohms. replace DIS module and repeat QUICK TEST.
- 71) DPI Open, Check Continuity. Turn key off. Install diagnostic cable. Disconnect diagnostic cable connector from DIS module pins 1-6. Connect diagnostic cable to breakout box with proper "OVERLAY". Disconnect ECA. Measure resistance between Test Pin 32 (DPI) at EEC-IV vehicle harness connector and J54 (DPI). If less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If more than 5 ohms, DPI is open between DIS module and ECA. Repair or replace as necessary and repeat QUICK TEST.
- 72) DPI Open, Check For Short To VBAT. Measure resistance between J54 (DPI) and J57 (VBAT+). If less than 10K ohms, DPI is shorted to VBAT between DIS module and ECA. Repair or replace as necessary and repeat QUICK TEST. If more than 10K ohms, go to next step.
- 73) DPI Open, Isolate ECA. Connect a jumper between J54 (DPI) and J60 (VBAT-). DO NOT jumper J54 to J57 for this test or DPI circuit in ECA will be damaged. Start engine. If there is spark at any left plug wire, replace ECA and repeat QUICK TEST. If there is no spark and any left plug wire, replace DIS module and repeat QUICK TEST.
