Wipers Inoperative At Low Speed

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. Set wiper switch for low speed operation. Unplug wiper motor connector. Check voltage between Yellow/Red wire and Dark Blue/Orange wire terminals of wiper motor harness connector. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, perform WIPER MOTOR CURRENT TEST.
  2. With wiper motor connector still unplugged, check voltage between Yellow/Red wire and Dark Blue/Orange wire terminals of Wiper Control Module (WCM) harness connector. See Figure . WCM is located at fuse block. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, repair open Yellow/Red wire or Dark Blue/Orange wire between WCM and wiper motor.
  3. Unplug connector from WCM. Measure resistance between Brown/White wire and Orange wire terminals of harness connector. If resistance is 3.5-4.5 k/ohms, replace WCM. If resistance is not 3.5-4.5 k/ohms, test wiper switch. See WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST  . If wiper switch is okay, repair wiring between WCM and wiper switch as necessary.
