Test K: No Module/Network Communications - Bus Link

  1. Turn ignition off. Inspect Data Link Connector (DLC) for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Pay particular attention to terminals No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire). See Figure . Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect PATS 16-pin connector C229 located behind driver's side of instrument panel. See Figure . Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 6 at PATS module connector and terminal No. 2 at DLC. See Figure and Figure . Also, measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 5 at PATS module connector and terminal No. 10 at DLC. If both resistance readings are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance reading is 5 ohms or more, repair Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between PATS module connector and DLC. Retest system for proper operation.
  3. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminal No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire) and terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 16 (Orange wire) at DLC. See Figure . Also, measure voltage between terminal No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire) and No. terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 16 (Orange wire) at DLC. If voltage is indicated at any terminals, go to next step. If voltage is not indicated at any terminals, replace PATS module and retest system for proper operation.
  4. Turn ignition off. If vehicle is equipped with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with ABS module, go to step 6).
  5. Disconnect ABS module connector, located in left front of engine compartment, of front of upper radiator support. If voltage is not indicated at any terminals, replace ABS module and retest system for proper operation.
  6. Turn ignition off. If vehicle is equipped with Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) module, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with EATC module, go to step 8).
  7. Disconnect EATC White 13-pin connector C227 located behind center of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminal No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire) and terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 16 (Orange wire) at DLC. See Figure . Also, measure voltage between terminal No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire) and terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 16 (Orange wire) at DLC. If voltage is indicated at any terminals, go to next step. If voltage is not indicated at any terminals, replace EATC module and retest system for proper operation.
  8. Turn ignition off. If vehicle is equipped with Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) module, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with NGV module, go to step 10).
  9. Disconnect NGV module connector located on front of radiator support. If voltage is not indicated at any terminals, replace NGV module and retest system for proper operation.
  10. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector located in left rear of engine compartment, near brake master cylinder. If voltage is not indicated at any terminals, replace PCM and retest system for proper operation.
  11. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 8-pin connector C103 located left rear corner of engine compartment, rear of wheelwell. If voltage is not indicated at any terminals, repair Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between PCM and connector C103. Retest system for proper operation.
  12. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 16-pin connector C107 located in left rear of engine compartment. See Figure . If voltage is indicated at any terminals, repair Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between connector C107, PATS module, EATC module (if equipped) and DLC. Retest system for normal operation. If voltage is not indicated at any terminals, repair Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between connector C103, ABS module, NGV module (if equipped), evac and fill connector C115 (Tan/Orange wire only) and connector C107. Retest system for normal operation.
