Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Econoline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Red-striped wires carry 115V DC. Severe electrical shock can be received. Do not pierce.
CAUTION: Do not pierce engine electrical wires or damage to the harness can occur. Always disconnect the ground cable prior to working on the electronic engine controls.

Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES  under MISCELLANEOUS. Disconnect coolant recovery reservoir hose, remove retaining screws and set aside. Remove upper, rear and lower Injector Driver Module (IDM) retaining screws. Remove wiring connector cover and loosen wiring connector retaining screw. Disconnect IDM harness connector. See Fig 1 . To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten IDM retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
