Self-Diagnostic System
NOTE:
This test is a Key On Engine Off (KOEO) test. Ensure gear selector is in Park, and parking brake is engaged. Manufacturer specifies ignition switch position during testing although it may not affect power distribution.
- Turn ignition off. Place gear selector in Park. Ensure parking brake is engaged and brake pedal is released. While holding the cruise control OFF button, turn ignition on. CRUISE CONTROL indicator on instrument cluster will flash once to indicate successful entry into self-diagnostic mode. If CRUISE CONTROL indicator does not flash, repair system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS. If CRUISE CONTROL indicator flashes once followed by 5 additional flashes, replace cruise control servo/actuator.
- Release cruise control OFF button. Within 5 seconds of entering self-diagnostics, press cruise control ON button. Press remaining cruise control buttons in the following sequence: RESUME, COAST and SET/ACCEL. As each button is pressed, CRUISE CONTROL indicator will flash. Wait until indicator light goes out to press next button.
- After sequence has been completed, the indicator light will flash to indicate test passed or failed. See FLASH CODE table. Perform appropriate procedure or test as specified.
- Immediately after static test has passed, actuator performs a dynamic test by automatically operating throttle .04-.40" (1-10 mm). Observe throttle movement to witness any sticking of cable or linkage. Ensure throttle returns properly. If self-diagnostics does not pinpoint fault, repair system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
