Test C: Generic Electronic Module/Central Timer Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM)/Central Timer Module (CTM) 26-pin harness connector C239. GEM/CTM is located below driver's side of instrument panel, left of steering column. See Figure. Inspect harness connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If harness connector is okay, go to next step. If harness connector is damaged, repair as necessary.
  2. Measure resistance in Light Blue/White wire between GEM/CTM harness connector C239 terminal No. 25 and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 7. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace GEM. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Light Blue/White wire between GEM/CTM harness connector C239 and DLC. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
